Andrew Beres Obituary

Andrew J. Beres Sr. of Philipsburg passed away Thursday in Mount Nittany Medical Center, State College.

He was married to the former Mary Ann Polinski since Jan. 16, 1954.

He was born on Nov. 11, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, the son of the late Michael and Elizabeth Kuntz Beres. He was a member of Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Philipsburg, and was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Cadmus.

He was a 1949 graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School. He worked in sales until his retirement.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Nilon; two brothers, John and Joseph Beres.

Along with his wife, he is also survived by daughters, Michelene Beres, West Decatur; Elizabeth Elliot and husband, Michael, Hershey; sons, Michael Beres, Philipsburg; Andrew J. Beres Jr. and wife, Lynn, Etters; brothers, Steven Beres and wife, Norma, Mountain Top; Michael Beres and wife, Julia, Wilkes-Barre; four grandchildren, Leah and Joseph Tuorinsky, Philipsburg; Zane and Maya Elliott, Hershey.

Services will be Monday at 11 from Beezer-Heath Funeral Home, 719 Spruce St., Philipsburg, with the Rev. Robert F. Oravetz officiating. Interment will be in Philipsburg Cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

Military honors will be accorded by members of the Moshannon Valley Independent Honor Guard.

i remember Andy when he worked at night in the late 50s at a service station on s. main st., wilkes-barre had many conversations with him. he was very personable and well-liked. i remember he always kept his cars looking sharp. i knew his sister (mrs. nilon) and some of his nieces. my sincere sympathies.
