Chie Langan, 87, of Ashley, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2021, at her home.
Born in Shizuoka, Japan, on Dec. 29, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Masao and Sue Nagashima.
She was a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley, and a member of its bowling league. She could always be found working the many bazaars, flea markets, bingos and she also enjoyed helping to make the homemade pierogis.
But most of all, Chie loved to spend her time with her beloved family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She cherished her time spent with her family and friends at the former Katana Restaurant, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Toshikazu Nagashima; and her nephew; Minuru Nagashima.
Surviving are her beloved husband, Robert M. Langan; loving daughter, Ann Marie Zurek and her husband, David; grandchildren, Kimberly Ann Fraley and her husband, Adam; David Zachary Zurek and his fiancée, Jessica Sleboda; and great-grandchildren, Mason and Maddox.
A private memorial visitation will be held at the convenience of the family from George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley.
The family would like to gratefully acknowledge the nurses and the nurses aide's from Allied Hospice for their care and concern of Chie during her time of need.
And a special thank you to her dear neighbors, Beth and Liz, Mary Kay and Beth Ann, for all they did for Chie and her family.
We will never forget your kindness.

We are so sorry for your loss. Mom and I knew Chie for many, many years. She was such a dear friend to Mom and was always concerned about us. Calling several times a day to make sure Mom was o.k. I am so glad I got to visit her one last time. God has gained another Angel.
She will be in our hearts always and be remembered with a smile. Her passing weighs heavy on Mom but we know she is at peace and her burden of suffering is now gone.
Fly high on angels' wings Chie. We will see each other again.
Love, Kazuko and Chuckie

Dear Ann Marie and family,
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Chie was a such vibrant, spunky, and independent person. She had a heart of gold, loved and cared for everyone close to her. I know I can say this for all of her Japanese friends. We remember so fondly all the get together with her at Katana and other places until Covid hit. We wanted to get together again! We will miss her so much for her laughter, advice, leadership, and her spirit will live in our hearts forever. We will continue to pray for you and your family and especially for your dad.
Love,
Jim and Yasuko Straub

I am so sorry, I extend my heartfelt condolence to you.
Chie-san was always very kind so much to me during my lifetime in United States. I still can't believe she died, I just talked with her 3weeks ago.
If you have something to give to your Japanese family or any help , please do not hesitate to tell me.
Thank you so much.
