Mr. Christopher Vivalda, 57, of Duryea, passed away Sunday, Jan. 2, 2022, in Regional Hospital of Scranton due to complications from surgery.
Born in Taylor, he was the son of the late John and Joanne Skurjunis Vivalda and was a graduate of Seton Catholic High School, Class of 1982. Prior to his retirement, he was employed as a truck driver and by Topps Chewing Gum Co., Duryea.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Kopcho.
Diane and Chris were together since they were teenagers. Their daughter Nikki was the couple's biggest joy in life. Together they traveled and spent countless hours on the road antique hunting and finding new destinations to visit. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting and taking his dog Wally on long walks. Chris was a sports car enthusiast, his favorite being red Corvettes. Reaching triple digit speeds was the greatest part of his cars. Going to concerts and music was a lifelong passion.
Chris lived life on his own terms and had a personality and sense of humor that was one-of-a-kind. He will be missed beyond words.
Surviving are his wife, the former Diane Kopcho; daughter, Nicole Vivalda, Duryea; mother-in-law, Mary Kopcho, Duryea; uncle, Eugene Vivalda and his wife, Joanna, Mountain Top; dog, Wally; and granddog, Pete.
Funeral services and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in Ss. Peter and Paul Cemetery, Duryea, by the Rev. Michael Bryant. A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea. Family and friends are asked to go directly to the cemetery the morning of the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612.
