David L. "Lou" McCann, 56, of Wilkes-Barre, departed this earthly life too soon. In his passing, heaven gained an angel and we all gained a guardian.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on March 1, 1965, he was the son of the late Gerald Walter McCann.
He was a graduate as a Mohawk from E.L. Meyers High School; he also attended classes at Luzerne County Community College.
He worked at family owned McCann's Beer Distributor in his youth before transitioning into his career for Holsum/Bimbo Bakeries until his retirement in 2015.
He was a member of St. Boniface Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he served as an altar server.
Surviving are his mother, Virginia (Tomas) McCann; sisters, Diane Pientka (Mark), Marcia Pasone (Dominic), Kelly McCann; brother, Dennis McCann; nieces Brittany, Briana and Kaitlin; nephews, Justin and Dominic; great-nieces Mackenzie and Emma; and great-nephew, Joseph.
David was a sports enthusiast who enjoyed following all types of sports. He was an avid NASCAR fan, with Dale Earnhardt being his favorite. He was also a diehard fan of the Yankees and a devoted member of the Steelers Nation and a dedicated Carolina Tarheel fan. He was also an avid reader, history buff and enjoyed all genres of music.
His passing has left a heartache almost unimaginable. A comforting thought is our father was waiting to greet him with open, loving arms.
