Ellen V. MacNeill, 92, of Wilkes-Barre and formerly of Ashley, passed away unexpectedly in Wilkes-Barre General Hospital on Sunday, Dec. 5, 2021.
"Boots," as she was affectionately known, was born in Ashley on April 24, 1929, the daughter of the late Ellis and Veronica Cybuch MacNeill.
She was a longtime resident of Ashley, where she attended Ashley High School and was a member of the graduating Class of 1947.
Ellen was employed by Blue Ribbon Bakery, Wilkes-Barre, and then for Blue Cross/Blue Shield and most recently by the Penn Miller Insurance Company until her retirement.
Preceding her in death were cousins, Peter Cybuck; Chester Nagle; and William, Ike and David Repsher.
Surviving are cousins, Maryann Nilon; Theresa Washko; Kathleen Eckell; Marion Nihen; David and Charles Cybuch; Ann Nardone; Edith Krushnowski; Frances Malay; Mary Ellen Agnew; Harry James MacNeill; Thomas Nagle; Ann Marie; and Terri MacNeill.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from George A Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 105 N. Main St., Ashley. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Hope Parish, 40 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
Interment to follow in St. Mary's Church of the Maternity Cemetery, West Wyoming.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the entire staffs of Guardian Elder Care, Nanticoke, and North Penn Manor, Wilkes-Barre, for their excellent care and compassion given to Ellen in her time of need.
