George Fillman Obituary

George R. Fillman Sr., 75, of Walnut Street, Forty Fort, died Sunday in Kindred Hospital, Green Cove Springs, Fla.

He was born in Mountain Top, son of the late Paul and Albina Knorr Fillman. He graduated from Fairview High School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Fillman had resided on Walnut Street, Forty Fort, for the past 49 years. He also maintained a residence in Kissimmee, Fla. Prior to his retirement, he was the owner/operator of Instantwhip Co.

He was a member of Grace Episcopal Church, Kingston. He also was a member of the Kingston Lodge 395, F&AM and the American Legion Post 395, Kingston.

His son, George R. Fillman Jr., preceded him in death in 1989.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Pearl Cooper; daughters, Cynthia Fillman, Jacksonville, Fla.; Lynn K. Fillman, Forty Fort; brother, Paul Fillman, Mountain Top; sisters, Connie Bokrosh, Berwick; Linda Yermal, Mountain Top; Judy DeLarche, Mountain Top; four grandchildren, Timothy Williams, Erica Pigeon, Andrew Williams and Kathlyn Fillman; two great-grandchildren, Noah Pigeon and Faerie Williams.

The funeral will be held Friday at 11 from Hugh B. Hughes & Son Inc. Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with the Rev. Timothy Madeira officiating. Interment will be in Denison Cemetery, Swoyersville. Friends may call Thursday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Memorial Art Fund, c/o Sue Hand's Imagery, 35 Main St., Dallas, PA 18612.
