Jenneca Kathryn Simkonis, 23, of Plains Twp. and formerly of Mayfield and Scott Twp., died Friday, March 4, 2022, in Geisinger Community Medical Center, Scranton, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was the wife of Andrew Simkonis. They would have celebrated their first wedding anniversary in June.
Jenneca's love for her husband was rivaled only by that for her dog, Loki. Jenneca adopted Loki as a rescue dog, but she always said that he rescued her as much as she rescued him.
Jenneca was born in Scranton on Sept. 10, 1998, to Gina Gentile, Mayfield, and Patrick Comes, Scott Twp. She was a graduate of Lakeland High School, Class of 2016.
Jenneca had an incredible sense of humor, rivaled only by her smile. She loved all animals, her friends, adventures, "Grey's Anatomy," the outdoors, (often obscure) music, Jeeps, day trips and days at the lake. She was crazy about anything with an engine and had an ATV day trip planned with her husband for the day after she died.
She spent many weekends at her dad's house with her husband; sister, Sam; niece, Maddy; and stepmother, Lisa. They enjoyed grilling and tinkering with quads and cars. Because of the vast acreage, she loved to get dirty and go "mudding," and shared the passion with Andy and Sam. Recently, during their last weekend together, Jenneca and Sam had taken Maddy on her first quad ride.
She was the kind of person who made everyone feel like someone. She was the person who would ask you to dance and spin you around to mediocre music just because you looked like you needed to smile. Her light was needed in the world
and her loved ones are
heartbroken that it's gone.
Because Jenneca touched every aspect of so many lives, we will be reminded of her every day, and we ask that you let yourself do the same. Every time you pet a dog, see a classic car, manage mischief, go off-roading, wear a hoodie in unreasonably warm weather, tell an inappropriate joke at a family event, or feel adventurous, please allow yourself to think of Jenneca.
Jenneca is also survived by two sisters, Samantha Harris (Sarah Mulé), Dallas; and Gabriella Comes, Mayfield; brothers, David Williams, Scott Twp., a friend whom Jenneca truly thought of as a bother, Patrick J. Comes, Mayfield; a niece, Madelyn Harris, Dallas; beloved aunt, Lisa Gentile and uncle, Dr. Robert McMullen, Wind Gap; adored uncle, Leo Gentile, Jermyn; and stepmother, Lisa Ryder, Pleasant Mount.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Angelina; maternal grandparents, Samuel and Mary Gentile; and paternal grandparents, Patrick and Lorraine Comes.
A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Harrison Funeral Home, 374 N. Main St., Archbald.
Memorial donations in Jenneca's name may be made to Blue Chip Farm Animal Refuge, 974 Lockville Road, Dallas, PA 18612.
