Jessie Watkins Nicholas, 88, formerly of Kingston, died recently in Champions Gate, Fla.
Jessie was the daughter of Charles H. and Mildred Sorber Watkins and was a devoted wife to her husband, James, and a wonderful mother to her sons, Les and Brian, who were the center of her universe. Her grandsons, Jordan and Dylan, were the joy of her life, and she was blessed to recently meet her great-grandson, Jackson Nicholas.
She was a 1954 graduate of Kingston High School. She was employed at the First National Bank of Wilkes-Barre, WBAX radio and retired as a technician at Nesbitt Memorial Hospital in Kingston.
She was a member of the West Side Junior Woman's Club and the West Side Evening Woman's Club. She served as president of both organizations and was president of the evening club for four years.
She was a member of the Dorranceton United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir and was an MYF member. After the Agnes flood, she joined the Church of Christ Uniting where she served on several task forces and the Parish Council. She was also chair of the Altar Guild for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; parents; sisters, Arlene Watkins, Ruth Brenner, Rosemary Wilcox and Shirley Lewis.
She is survived by her sons, Les, Champions Gate, Fla.; and Brian, Camp Verde, Ariz.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, in Lehman Cemetery with the Rev. Jane Pykus presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Hoyt Library, 284 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704.

With great sadness the members of the General Federation of Women´s Clubs extend our condolences to Jessie´s family, For a lifetime she shared her talents, friendship and kindness to club friends and community members in need.
She was a leader of women volunteers on the local , county and state level. We are grateful to have shared the "women´s club " life with Jessie.
