Patricia Ann Thomas

Patricia Ann Thomas, 69, of Wilkes-Barre, lost her long courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, Aug. 3, 2017.

Born May 6, 1948 in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Edward Maximowicz and Eva Maximowicz Babowicz. She was also preceded in death by brothers, Francis and Victor Babowicz.

She is survived by her husband of 42 years, James E. Thomas; daughter and son-in-law, Angela J. and Joseph F. Czapla; and granddaughter, Mia R. Manganello, all of Wilkes-Barre; sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and James Dixon; sister, Bernadine Reinard; and brother and sister-in-law, Edwin and Maryann Thomas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Patricia was a real estate agent for many years, eventually earning her broker's license and working as an appraiser. Those who knew Pat, or "Patsy" as known by her family and close friends, knew that her greatest joy in life was her daughter and granddaughter. She also enjoyed traveling to various places around the world with her husband and often with friends as well. Patsy had a zest for life and lived it to the fullest.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at the University of Pennsylvania, where she received care and treatment and Celtic Hospice of South Wilkes-Barre, where she spent her final days.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in Central United Methodist Church, 65 Academy St., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Eugene Sperazza, pastor, will officiate.

Family and friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday in the church.
