Ronald Jacob Mika, 75, of Bear Creek, passed away Friday, Sept. 11, 2020, at home, surrounded by his loving daughters.
He was a graduate of Mary Mount High School in Wilkes-Barre and then attended Wilkes-Barre Business College. He was a member of the National Guard and employed at Roadway Express as a dispatcher for over 30 years.
Married for 40 years, Ronald took great pride in providing for his family. He was a member of Our Lady of Hope, (St. Mary's Church of the Maternity) Parrish, was a former member of the Trailwood Association, and in later years, volunteered his time to retired veterans, homeless shelters and food banks throughout Luzerne County.
Ronald was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching boxing events. He, also, loved spending time with friends and family and was regarded as an craftsman in classic car restoration. He had a gift for transforming what many would see as hopeless metal and rust into treasured and unique pieces of work. His motto was restoring "one gem at a time."
Ronald was preceded in death by his father and mother, Chester F. and Helen Mika, Nuangola; and son-in-law, Leo White, West Pittston.
He is survived by his brother, Chester F. Mika Jr. and his wife, Judith, St. Peters, Mo. He is also survived by daughters, Molly Mika, Moosic; Jennie White, West Pittston; Emily Taylor and husband, Rod; and Mandy Mika, West Pittston. In addition, grandchildren, Haley Kazmierski; Noah Taylor; great-grandson, Clayton Kazmierski; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing will be held where friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Kopicki Funeral Home, Kingston. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Bear Creek Community Charter School, 30 Charter School Way, Bear Creek Twp, PA, 18702.
A very special thanks to Compassionate Care Hospice for their loving kindness and support to our dad and our family during the past few weeks.

Ron was my landlord going on 13 years. We became friends for most of that time. We went to dinner once or twice over most every two weeks. We did that for a number of years. Unfortunately, we shared a common disease. I would look forward to these dinners where we shared conversation and concerns. I miss him and will continue to miss him and our dinners together.
