Sean "Moon Dog" Stankus, 60, of Dallas, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
He was born June 16, 1963, in Pittston, to the late John and Rosemary Yonki Stankus.
Sean graduated from Seton High School in 1981 and attended Wilkes-Barre Vocational Technical School to study mechanics. Sean was a lover of the outdoors, an avid hunter and golfer. He was a talented musician and enjoyed playing at charitable events, and for family and friends. He started his career as a binder operator and went on to work for 40 years at Kappa Graphics. He ended his career at Modineer-Pulverman as a brake press operator. Sean was a member of the West Wyoming Eagles and the West Pittston Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nine and a half years, Debbie Dankulich Burton-Stankus; daughter, Danielle (Josh) Boylan, Pittston; stepsons, Adam and Jeremy Burton, Franklin Twp.; and brothers, Bruce (Carrie) Stankus, Lovelton, and Mark Stankus, Pittston.
The celebration of life will be held Tuesday. Relatives and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. at Metcalfe Shaver Kopcza Funeral Home Inc., 504 Wyoming Ave., Wyoming.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family in Memorial Shrine Park, Carverton.

I´m so sorry to hear Sean passed away. I have great memories of hanging at the point fishing and digging for arrow heads, Hanging out at Blackies drinking ., going to concerts and nascar races. Sean was always fun and interesting to be around, Mark and Daniel and all his loved ones please know I´m thinking of you in this hard time. Rest in Peace Sean

Sean was always good to me growing up. I remember him as a local guitar player. We had several musicians in our area of town, and he was always had something good to say. I wish his family well in this time of remembrance.
