Sheila Jeffries, 81, formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Friday, March 25, 2022, at the Hampton House, Hanover Twp.
She was born on April 14, 1940, in Wilkes-Barre, daughter of the late Donnell Shaffer, Isabella and Paul Ferentz.
Sheila was a graduate of Meyers High School, Class of 1958. She was a lifelong bank teller, employed at many local banks until her retirement from Hanover Bank in 2005. Everyone who entered the bank knew Sheila as a caring person who was always interested in others. After her retirement, she joined the local school district's foster grandparent program, in which senior citizens spend 20 hours per week helping elementary students with reading, writing and other skills.
She had a true love for all cats. Not only did she love cats, but cats loved her. They were her children; when she talked to them, they sat and listened.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Thomas Norton, Forty Fort.
Sheila is survived by her sister, Donna Norton, Forty Fort; two nieces, Kelly Vespico, Trucksville; Sandra Dompkosky and husband, Robert Dompkosky, West Palm Beach, Fla.; one nephew, Thomas Roger Norton and wife, Kelly Norton, Dallas; and many great-nieces and great-nephews, Devon Redding, Ashley Norton, Tommy Norton, Victoria Vespico, Vincent Christopher Vespico, Madison Dompkosky and Blake Dompkosky.

Donna,
Sorry for your loss. Sheila was one of the best people I ever knew. She lit up any room she walked into. It was my priviledge to be her friend. I hope she and Mike are talking about all the great times we had. I tried to call you but your phone # has changed apparently. Hugs to you.
