Thomas J. Ostrowski, of Brooklyn, N.Y. and formerly of Wilkes-Barre, passed away Saturday, March 5, 2022.
He was born in Wilkes-Barre, the son of Thomas and Debra Wilcox Ostrowski.
It became evident from an early age that we would never know boredom. Thomas was the spark that lit up any room. His quick wit, unparalleled sense of humor and readiness to share it all enriched each day spent with him.
Thomas had an innate ability to see the beauty in any situation or environment.
Thomas was incredibly adroit at entertaining and even taught himself to play several instruments without any formal training. This was a skill he nurtured with some of his most cherished friends.
Thomas was a graduate of Elmer L. Meyers High School, Class of 2004. He received his bachelor's degree in English from Pace University and his master's degree in library science from Queens College. He was employed as a librarian at Medgar Evers College, New York, N.Y.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Dorothy Ostrowski; and by his maternal grandparents, Carl and Antoinette Wilcox.
In addition to his parents, Thomas is survived by his sister, Jamie O. Miscavige and her husband, Justin, Summerville, S.C.; niece, Elliot; and nephew, Daniel Miscavige; the love of his life, Marcine Francis; and by his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday from Nat & Gawlas Funeral Home, 89 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Joseph Verespy will officiate. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Candy's Place, 190 Welles St., #166, Forty Fort, PA 18704.
