Dad,

So much has changed since you went away...This has been the hardest time of my life but I have learned and I have grown so much and I have become a whole new person in just this short time without you. I have made some great changes in my life and I owe them all to you. I just wish you were here to share it all with me. I wish we had one more day together so I can tell you how much you mean to me. One more day to spend every moment together, one more day so I can hear your laugh and kiss your face. I know I will see you again, but it seems the time I am here without you gets worse and worse. I miss you more than words can say. Tommy talks about you nonstop. I miss every part of you, your smile, your beard your skin the way you would come home and smell like dirt and oil. I find myself loving the smell of fresh dirt and Diesel fuel it takes me to you. It's these things that I miss the most. I always stop when I hear a machine or dump truck and think of all the times I went with you when you worked. I love you so much it hurts. You were the most amazing person I have ever known and you will always be with me, Jamie, tommy and the boys. You made me who I am today and I will always be so grateful to have had such an amazing father and friend. You couldn't have done it better; I have learned so much from you and will continue to learn from you as I grow. I am your daughter through and through, you have my love always

I believe that imagination is stronger than knowledge -- myth is more potent than history -- dreams are more powerful than facts -- hope always triumphs over experience -- laughter is the cure for grief -- love is stronger than death.
He will be remembered always because the love for him will keep him alive.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...

but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.

I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.

Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.

Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.

That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,

God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.

As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.

I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.

There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.

And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.

And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.

God and I are closest to you in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years

because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.

But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.

Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.

But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.

But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.

I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;

but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.

It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too

that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,

then you can say to God at night "My day was not in vain."

And now I am contented that my life has been worthwhile,

knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,

just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.

When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;

I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go from that body to be free,

remember you're not going you're coming here to me

This is my favorite poem and I hope it brings you comfort.

Tom was an amazing man and he was an even more amazing father. I spent many days with him just chatting when he came into the Big Ten to eat lunch. We were so shocked and deeply saddened to hear of his passing. I know there is nothing I can say that will ease the pain you feel. All I can say is trust in God to see you through. Tom was so young and thats just more proof that God only takes the best. He will continue to do good work in Heaven.
