William O'Boyle Obituary

William M. O'Boyle, 80, of Avoca, passed away Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Riverside Rehabilitation Center in Taylor after complications from a fall.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Ruth, in 2015.

He is survived by his son and best friend Dan, Avoca; daughter and son-in-law, Jenny and Randy Garner, San Diego; and grandchildren, Kaitlyn (20), Jordan (11) and Brooks (6).

Billy was the oldest child of William R. and Isabelle R. O'Boyle, Avoca, who preceded him in death, along with his brother, John.

He is survived by his brothers, Vince and Jim O'Boyle; his sister, Pat Haddick; nieces; nephews; grand-nieces; and grand-nephews.

Billy served in the U.S. Army and retired from T.P. Corp., Duryea.

He thoroughly enjoyed his years of retirement. Billy was an avid outdoorsman who spent his days hunting, fishing and reloading bullets. Billy was a master fly tier whose work was second to none. He would read for hours a day about history, geography, nature, etc., proudly recalling details long forgotten by others. If you knew Billy, you knew these things, and likely shared a beer (or two) talking about them.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff who cared for Billy in his final weeks at Riverside Rehabilitation Center. Dan and Jenny are grateful beyond words for your care.

To remember Billy, please join his family from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday at Kiesinger Funeral Services Inc., 255 McAlpine St., Duryea.

In lieu of flowers, kindly make memorial donations to the National Kidney Foundation in memory of his wife, Ruth.

Only thing I can say is that Billy (Beaver) O'Boyle was a gentleman and a great friend! If you ever needed information on guns/hunting, Billy could help you. We will miss him from the Avoca gang as also missed his brother John.( He was so funny.). We had good times with Lenord Arch and Joe Dills. Also, I can't forget Jackey Orlosky as one if the great gun guys in town. I miss that whole scene with my friends at Avoca High.....R.I.P. Billy and condolences to the O'Boyle family!
