Youssef Lakkis

Youssef Lakkis, 91, a resident of New Port Richey, Fla., passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, in Trinity Regional Medical Center, New Port Richey.

Born July 25, 1925, he was the son of the late Moussa Lakkis and Rosa Ghaseyn.

Youssef and his late wife, Linda, were the former owners of the Middle East Bakery in Wilkes-Barre for 42 years. Prior to his journey here in the United States, he worked in Kuwait for 18 years doing imports and exports.

Youssef was also a member of the Lebanese Kataeb for 74 years. He also belonged to St. Anthony/St. George Maronite Church, Wilkes-Barre.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Tohme Lakkis; son, Moses; two brothers in Lebanon; and three sisters in Lebanon.

Surviving him are more than five generations, including his sons, Rashwan Lakkis and wife, Antoinette, Lebanon; and Raymond Lakkis and wife, Rachel, New Port Rickey, Fla.; daughters, Maryrose Salame and husband, Fares, Daytona, Fla.; Victoria Grzyboski and husband, Ron, Lehman Township; and Hana Houssein and husband, Fisal, St. Petersburg, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as his sister, Janet Boutros, Lebanon.

A viewing will be held from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Service Corp., 59 Parrish St., Wilkes-Barre.

The funeral service Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony Maronite Church, 311 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
