Beverly Matney Obituary
Bev was born September 11, 1959, the daughter of Austin and LaVerne Kruse Potter. She was a 1977 graduate of Pleasant Ridge High School in Easton, Kansas. Bev began her career with Southwestern Bell in 1978 in Leavenworth. Her job took her to Olathe, and Mission, Kansas, where she met her future husband, William Matney, Jr. They were married October 19, 1985, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Easton, Kansas, enjoying over 31 years together. Her job brought her to Topeka for a time and in 2013 she retired from AT&T in Mission.
Bev was member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed gardening, being a dance mom, traveling and attending rock concerts. Bev was dearly loved, will be remembered always, and will be sorely missed by all who knew her.
Grateful to have shared her life are her beloved husband and caregiver, Bill; daughters, Jennifer Matney (Zach Baugh) and Alexandria Matney; her father, Austin Potter; siblings, Barbara Askins (Mike Hall), Brenda Taylor (Ken), Brian Potter (Renee) and Belinda McLeod (Chris); and nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Family will greet friends from 5 p.m. until service time.
In lieu of flowers, Bev's family suggests memorial contributions to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or to Midland Care Hospice, sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614.
