Brian Blecha Obituary

Brian Lynn Blecha, age 20, of Manhattan, died Sunday October 15, 2006, at his home. He was born February 9, 1986, in Manhattan, the son of Lynn A. and Alice L. (Ruhlen) Blecha. Brian attended Manhattan Schools, attended Hutchinson Community College for two years and was currently attending Kansas State University majoring in civil engineering. He was also a part-time employee of Blecha Construction, Inc. Brian was a member of the First United Methodist Church and active in the youth group. He was a member of the College Hill 4-H Club for ten years. Music was a central part of Brian's life; he played violin in the Gold Orchestra and school orchestras and enjoyed his guitar. His other favorite activities included hunting, fishing, woodworking, and cars. Survivors include his mother, Alice Blecha of Topeka; his father, Lynn Blecha and his wife, Mary Lou of Manhattan; one sister, Laura Blecha of Somerville, MA; one brother, Justin Blecha of Manhattan; great-grandmother, Flossie Rasmussen of Belleville, KS; grandfather, Ralph Ruhlen of Baldwin City, KS; 16 aunts and uncles, and 18 cousins. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, 612 Poyntz Ave., Manhattan, with Reverend Jim Reed officiating. Interment will follow in Sunrise Cemetery in Manhattan. Brian's family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. Friday until service time at the First United Methodist Church. Online condolences may be left for the family through the funeral home website at www.ymlfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church or the Kansas 4-H Foundation.
