Jennie Nettleton Obituary

LYNDON- Jennie Lee "Lee" Nettleton was born on January 18, 1933 near Quenemo, KS. When still a tiny girl her family moved to rural Lyndon, KS. where she lived her entire life; except for a short time when she lived in Arkansas as an Army wife. She left home for Heaven on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 in Topeka, KS. On September 5, 1951 she married Frank L. Nettleton. They had 3 children. Tim C., Tamara Lee and Todd Brett. Her immediate family consists of Tamara's husband Jerry D. VandeVelde, Todd's wife Kim, a passel of grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, a great-grandson, one sister, two sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law. She was a certified PLS, "Professional Legal Secretary", and worked at several law firms, retiring from the firm of Irregonegaray & Associates. She did not crave/need or demand fancy expensive fixin's. She did not appreciate flowery insincere speeches; ie "just the facts ma'am, just the facts". She could not tolerate pompous behavior. Her 3 main interests were work, promotion of young women's advanced education, and a mama grizzlie's aggressive protection of her grandchildren. Her approach to life was - hard work - If a job is not popular, do it anyway. Do it, just because it needs to be done - if it needs to be done, Get-er-done, Get-er-done quick, correctly and completely, then look for a way to improve your performance next time, and if some idle time pops up, find some worthwhile work to do to keep from being idle. Precision, efficiency, accuracy and thoroughness were the mark of everything she did. She was a strong Christian lady who did not smoke, drink or take the Lord's name in vain. She had 3 quilt blocks that she wanted to finish; but it was time to go. Her work here is finished and her pain is ended. Rest easy, Special Lady, rest easy. It's been a wonderful dance, Little Partner. Memorial services for Lee will be at 7:00p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2009 at the Grace Community Church in Overbrook. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Business Women for scholarships and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Ave., Lyndon, KS 66451.

Frank and family,

I heard of Lee's passing the day before I left on a trip to spend some time with my mother. I could not believe it when I heard the words from a friends mouth. My love and prayers go out to you as I know that this is a very difficult time for all of you.
When I think of Lee, I think of so many things. How she made me laugh until I could not laugh any more (I would ellaborate, but I think you know), how she infuriated me when she put red marks all over my letters, etc., but I know deep down that she just wanted me to learn to things to the best of my ability. I could not have had a better, more caring mentor. She made me strive to be better in every way. We had many fun years of working together, but it went beyond that, she was like a second mother and best friend all in one. We are all better for knowing her. She will be missed.

Frank, Tim, Tammy, and Todd

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time. I am so sorry I was unable to attend the funeral services. I remember your mother from church as a young girl and her making Glenda and I's skirts for pom pom. To know her was to love her anyone who had a chance to meet her was all the better. As hard as it is we know she is in a much better place without any pain!

Our condolences are sent from our hearts for the lost of Jennie Lee. I heard about her passing from my sister-in-law, Carol Engler who is with her son Tim Sisco and family. I have passed on the information of her passing to my brother, Vernon Brown, who lives near by us in Yakima. and to my son Kevin who was in Todd's class. Larry and I live near Moxee, WA but I am down in CA visiting the kids and grandchildren until Larry comes to get me later this month.

Jennie Lee will be remembered and missed by all of us.

Sincerely Mary Fricke

Dear Frank Tim Tammy and Todd,

I will miss Lee's smiling face at the Christmas Eve parties. She was a true artist whose perfectionism was apparent in all her work. I will miss arguing with her, even though I knew I would never win; that was part of the fun. She will remain forever in the heart of those she touched. She was a strong, and courageous woman. We will miss her.
Love to you all her family.

I truly appreciate the brief time for which I was acquainted with Lee. I had the honor of being her driver during part of her valiant fight. The loss of such a fine lady is a loss for everyone. I offer my condolences for all of her family and wish you the best as you honor Lee's life with the successes of your own.

Sorry about the passing of Lee. She was a wonderful quilter and an inspiration for me to improve. I knew her when she worked for the law firm and I worked for a district court judge at the courthouse. We didn't know that though until we had both retired.

I will cherish the lovely memories I have of the short acquaintance I had with this lovely lady. She fought a valiant fight and was always lovely, in word and deed and always looked lovely no matter how she felt. She was an inspiration and an encouragment. We are proud of her, as the Lord must be truly as well. She wore the name "Child of God" admirably, she will be sorely missed by all.

Frank and family;

Lee was a special lady that I've known most of my life. I remember times when we would go to the farm to be with them and how much fun we had. Lee and Frank both taught me to ride a horse which I loved very much. I remember a time we were out to the farm and my sister (Diana) was on a Shetlin pony and it ran towards the barn and the door was closed. Frank opened the door before the pony got there so everything was good. I remember Lee laughing so hard. I also remember Lee in the rodeos and she taught me to barrel race. I wasn't very good but it was fun. Lee was a very special person and will be missed by everyone.
Frank, Tammy, Tim and Todd I'm very sorry for your loss.

Frank,
Please accept my condolences during this time of grief. It is difficult to let your lifelong partner go to her reward, but you can probably know that your separation will only be temporary.
