Patricia Haines Obituary
She was born in 1928, in Topeka, the daughter of John Paul and Dorothy Louise McKernan Moore. She graduated from Hayden High School and had been employed at the United States Air Force Depot and Sears. Patricia was one of the four original volunteers at Midland Care Hospice.
On May 24, 1949, Patricia and Roy W. Haines, Sr. were married at Holy Name Catholic Church in Topeka. They raised six children and were lifelong Topekans. Patricia loved spending time with family most of all, and also enjoyed St. Patrick's Day, the KU Jayhawks, reading, travel, and golf.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Sr. in 2005; by sons, Kenny in 1994, Roy Jr. in 2002; daughter, Peggy Ann Howe in 2014; brothers John, Thomas, and Kenneth Moore; and two sisters, Dorothy Cornish and Rita Mueller.
Surviving are daughter, Terrie Wedel (Kerry) of Topeka; sons, John Haines (Jean), Lenexa, and Patrick Haines (Kathya), Santiago Chile; and her brother, Gerard Moore of Coos Bay, Oregon. Also surviving is a loving extended family of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their families.
The family recognizes Karyn Morgan (and many others) for their steadfast love, friendship and assistance allowing Mom to stay in her own home for many extra years.
Patricia was a member of Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Most Pure Heart of Mary Women's Fellowship and the Third Order of St. Francis. She had previously attended St. Matthew Church and Holy Name Church. She devoutly practiced her Catholic faith.
Mrs. Haines will lie in state from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Road, Topeka KS 66614, where the rosary will be prayed at 5 p.m. after which her family will greet friends until 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Most Pure Heart of Mary Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions be made to Great Lakes Caring Hospice and Meals on Wheels, sent in care of the funeral home.

Pat was a very dear friend and we are very sad to learn of her passing. We lost touch the last few years but I will always remember our long talks and her down to earth views. An amazing lady with much love for all. She so loved her family and friends and I'm a better person for having her as a friend.
