Paul Kelly Obituary

EFFINGHAM - Paul M. Kelly, 94, of Effingham, Kansas, passed away Saturday, May 26th at Village Villa Nursing Home, Nortonville, Kansas. The Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday morning, May 30th, at 10:30 AM at St. Anns Church, Effingham, Kansas with Fr. Benjamin Tremmel OSB, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anns Cemetery. The casket will lie in State for 1 Hour prior to the services at the church. The Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening at 7:00 in the Chapel of the Arensberg-Pruett Funeral Home, followed by visitation until 8:30 PM. Memorials are suggested to either St. Anns Church or the Atchison County Rescue Services, and these may be left at the Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.arensbergpruett.com. Mr. Kelly was born March 24, 1913 at Esbon, Kansas the Son of Martin E. and Agnes Conrad Kelly. He attended the Prairie View School District #54 Grade School. Mr. Kelly was engaged in farming his entire life, having lived on the same farm since he was 3 years old. He served as clerk of the Prairie View School Board for many years. He received the Master Farmer Award, given by the Kansas Association of Commerce and Industry in 1971. He also received the Soil Conservation Award, given by the Kansas Bankers Association, in 1968. Mr. Kelly had also served as Benton Township Representative on the Agricultural Stabilization & Conservation Service, Soil Conservation Committee. He and the former Mildred Haverkamp were married April 22, 1947 at Sacred Heart Church, Atchison, Kansas. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include 2 sons, James P. Kelly Roeland Park, KS., and Michael C. Kelly (Denise), Effingham, KS.; 2 daughters, Janet Sandridge, Friendswood, TX., and Colleen Mantey (Gary), Mission Viejo, CA.; 1 sister, Rosella Strawn, Vancouver, Washington,; and by 7 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 2 sons, Timothy and Edward; 1 sister, Genevieve Schrick, and 3 brothers, Bernard, Charles, and James.
