Peter Kaberline Obituary

Peter James Kaberline, 83, of Osage City, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2010, at the Heritage Health Care Center in Chanute. He was born March 12, 1927, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Peter M. Kaberline and Marie (Stadler) Kaberline. He graduated from Topeka High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy. On September 9, 1950, he married Marie Barbara Mathern in Forsyth, Montana. Peter and Marie Kaberline made their home in Osage City. Peter worked for the Missouri Pacific Railroad until he retired. Peter enjoyed woodworking and contributed countless items to the St. Patricks Catholic Church where he was a member since moving to Osage City, Kansas, in 1962. Peter was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, the Knights Of Columbus, Robert Heizer Post #198 of the American Legion of Osage City, Kansas, and the Osage County Senior Center Site Council. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Marie Rose Kaberline, and his wife Marie B. Kaberline on October 6, 1996. He is survived by his sister, Marie L. Brink, Topeka; his four children, Cindy Lane (Mike) of Chanute, James M. Kaberline of Kansas City, KS, Thomas P. Kaberline (Sharon) of Helena, MT and Christina M. Kaberline of Norfolk, VA; grandchildren, Brent Lane (Shanda) of Fredonia, Janel Paxson (Heath) of Topeka, Aaron Lane (Stephanie) of Dearing, T.J. Kaberline of Kansas City and Devin Kaberline of Shawnee; and great-grandchildren, Juliet, Kael, and Joelle Lane of Fredonia and Aaden Lane of Dearing. Peter was devoted to his family and community. He was a positive influence on all who had the privilege of knowing him. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday, June 4, 2010, St. Patricks Church located at 309 South 6th Street, Osage City. Burial will be held at Mount Calvary Cemetery located on Hwy 31 north of Osage City. He will lie in state from 4:00 PM Thursday at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel. There will be a Rosary at 6:00 PM, Thursday and the family will receive friends after the Rosary until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patricks Church at 309 South 6th Street, Osage City, Kansas 66523 (785) 528-3424 or the Osage County Senior Center at 604 Market Street, Osage City, Kansas 66523 (785) 528-4906.

I am a member of St Patrick's parish in Osage City. Your father was such a treasure to our parish. He was a wonderful catholic and a great person. You all are blessed to have him as your father. I always enjoyed seeing him at Mass and visiting with him. My sympathy in your loss.
