Ozawkie - Robert J. "Rick" Shaw, 86, Ozawkie, Kansas, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, August 5, 2021, with his wife, Diane, by his side.
Rick was born April 15, 1935, in Jersey City, New Jersey, the son of John and Claire Parsells Shaw. He lived life to the fullest and loved to make everyone around him smile, children and adults alike. Whether singing a Willie Nelson song to a complete stranger, waving to a baby across the way or talking like Donald Duck to a little toddler at a grandchildren's ballgame, Rick always had fun. His favorite pastimes were spending time with family, golfing and Karaoke. Rick is loved by many and will be truly missed.
Over the past 20 yrs Rick enjoyed golfing with family and friends, serving as caddy for Patrick in golf tournaments, acting as assistant supervisor for Kelli's "ice cream shop" and Patrick's lawn mowing.
Rick enjoyed frequent visits with all the children and grandchildren, attending numerous Birthday's and baseball games. Each year at Christmas time, he drove around passing out Christmas gifts to all six children and grandchildren. Rick looked forward to extended winter stays in Florida with Diane, many times meeting friends from Kansas there and singing karaoke at the local pubs. He was well known by many as Willie Nelson for his love of singing to all.
Rick is survived by his wife, Diane; children, John Shaw (Sharon), Jim Shaw (Jana), Jay Shaw (Melanie), Kimberly "Kimmy" Hinck (Lonnie), Kelli Shaw and Patrick Shaw (Sarah); 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; siblings, Joan Legreggin, Claire D'Andrea (Mark) and Kathi Orozco. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter, McKenzie Hinck and siblings, John Shaw, Jr. and Ruth Wiley.
Services are pending at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rick Shaw Memorial Fund, and sent in care of Kevin Brennan Family Funeral Home, 2801 SW Urish Rd, Topeka KS 66614. Full obituary may be viewed online at www.kevinbrennanfamily.com.

Diane and family, I am so very sorry to hear about the passing of Rick. He was one of a kind a sweet soul and would always walk into T-Shirts ETC singing a Willie Nelson song. We will sure miss him. I am so very sad to learn of Rick's passing. He was such an amazing person...one of my favorite UPS customers! Rick will surely be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Diane you are most definitely in my thoughts and prayers!!
