Roman Freundorfer Obituary

Roman Freundorfer
Roman graduated from Topeka High School. He was a huge fan of all things superhero related and loved getting dressed up for Halloween in his favorite superhero costumes. He was a devoted Christian and loved going to several different churches in a week so he wouldn't "miss anything". He loved classic rock from the 60's, 70's and 80's and for some reason, Steve Winwood above all. He struggled in recent years with mental health issues and alcohol use. He was grateful for the recovery community in which he participated. And he was a person with a heart simply too big to hold all the challenges and struggles and love he had anymore. He will be missed in ways too big to measure. There will be no service. Please remember him in any way that feels right. Memorial contributions can be made to Helping Hands Humane Society in Topeka where Roman was once a very active volunteer.

The description above is accurate in how I perceived Roman. He was a frequent user on the Bookmobile, a very curious and social guy who often wore a smile.

I worked with Roman at Eagle Auto Wash, years ago. His smile and natural attitude of love and happiness was unmistakable - you knew when Roman walked into the room. I often saw him riding his bike around Topeka and would stop for a little chat, usually about Eagle. It was about 15 years ago Roman and I worked together, and he still remembered me. It seemed to me, that Roman and I were just meant to be pals. As it turned out, we were drawn to each other because we shared a common bond, and throughout the past 3 years it was that common bond that reunited us on a regular basis. I will miss Roman, I will miss his very unique and lovable way of lighting up the room. I am a weather nerd, and without fail, I could always have an intelligent, well-informed conversation with Roman about the weather - anywhere in the world. May you rest in peace my friend, you're with God now.

Roman may you find peace and happiness in your current journey and spread the joy and smiles as you did when you were here with us. I pray all your family and friends will be given peace and comfort during this time of letting you go to a better place. Loved you so much and will remember the many conversations we had and you taking off into the sunset on your bike.

So sad about the loss of Roman. Roman had a way of lighting up a room and always had a genuine smile. I remember him riding his bicycle no matter what the weather. He will be missed.

Elizabeth, I am so sorry for your loss. I have many fond memories of Roman. One of my favorites is the year he dressed up as Superman for Halloween and ran around my front yard showing me his cape flying behind him. He did have a big heart and wanted people to do right. He will be dearly missed.
