Ronald Meade Obituary

CENTRALIA ~ Ronald Rosseau Meade Sr., 70, Centralia, died May 18, 2003, at his home. He was born January 20, 1933, in a farm house south of Onaga to Alva and Mildred Morris Meade. He attended Concorde and Neuchatel schools. Mr. Meade had worked at CGF Grain and the Nemaha County COOP in Centralia for many years and retired in 1995. After retirement he worked different part-time jobs in and around the Centralia area. He was married to Mary Myers on June 27, 1956. She survives at the home in Centralia. Mr. Meade is also survived by four sons, Ronald Jr., Emporia, Bill, Centralia, Tom, Council Grove, and Tim Centralia; five daughters, Mary Keller, Topeka, Martha Thompson, Centralia, Diane Schmitz, Topeka, Bernice Ronnebaum, Centralia, and Liz Meade, Mesa, Ariz.; two sisters, Lucille Broadbent, Topeka and Ada Kelly, Topeka; a half-sister, Kay Kling, Seneca; four half-brothers, Ed Meade, Chicago, Ill, Craig Meade, Beatrice, Neb., and Alva and Bob Meade, both of Centralia; 26 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Everett Meade, and by two grandchildren, Jason and Paula Ronnebaum. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the St. Patricks Catholic Church in Corning. Fr. Owen Purcell O.S.B. celebrated the Mass. Lynn, Connie and Luke Steinlage will sing. Amy Boden will be organist. The Eucharistic Ministers are Charles and Sandy Stallbaumer. Gift bearers are the granddaughters. The servers are Pam Ronnebaum, Cody and Justin Merriman. Burial will be in the Coal Creek Cemetery south of Centralia. Casket bearers are Dusty Thompson, Brent Ronnebaum, Doug Thompson, Scott Meade, Nick Williams, Cody Meade and Tyler Meade. Honorary casket bearers are Rex Flentie, Bill Cross, Bill Toby, Paul Elliott, Jim Van Gilder, Glen Aeschliman and Jerry McLaughlin. There was a family visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia. Memorials may be made to St. Patricks Catholic Church in Corning or to the North East Kansas Multi-County Hospice in Hiawatha, and sent in care of the Hayes-Popkess Funeral Home in Centralia.
