Thomas Gray Obituary

LYNDON - Thomas Wayne Gray, 84, Lyndon, died Thursday, Feb. 12, 2004, at a Lyndon area care facility. He was born Aug. 27, 1919, near Quenemo, to Albert Wayne and Ruth Rankin Gray. He grew up between Quenemo and Lyndon. He had lived also in California and Florida and had retired back to Lyndon in the 1980s. He has lived there since. Mr. Gray had worked as a carpenter and was a construction superintendent. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1936, served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the Lyndon American Legion Post No. 125. He married Dorothy Huffstutter on July 19, 1941, in St. Charles, Mo. She died on Dec. 18, 1980. He married Marguerite Beatty on Sept. 23, 1982, in Chicago. She survives at the home. Also surviving are two daughters, Patricia Grzybowski, St. Joseph, Mo., and Barbara Gray, Fort Myers, Fla.; a brother, Ross Gray, Topeka; and one granddaughter, Michelle Wilcox, Fort Myers. Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Feltner Fun eral Chapel in Lyndon. Burial will be in Lyndon Cemetery. Mr. Gray will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Feltner Funeral Chapel-Lyndon. The family will receive friends there from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday. Memorials may be made to Midland Hospice and sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, Box 160, Lyndon, Kan. 66451.
