Cynthia Benton Obituary
Melbourne, FL - Cynthia Meadows Dahl Benton passed away on December 16, 2018. She was born August 24, 1927, in Simpson County, Magee, Mississippi and was the daughter of the late O. C. Meadows and Nettie V. Sellers Meadows.
Cynthia held various jobs throughout her life, finally serving as the Veteran representative in Vicksburg where she retired. Upon retirement, she and her husband, Guy, left Vicksburg, Mississippi, where they had lived for many years, eventually settling in Melbourne, Florida to be near family.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her husband, Guy L. Benton; her brothers Willard Meadows, J. P. Meadows, and Millard Meadows, her sister Katie Marie Kemp, her stepdaughter Kay Kleitt, and her granddaughter Tiffany Dahl.
She is survived by her children, Ken Dahl (Dana) of Yorktown, Virginia, and Wayne Dahl (Melanie) of Melbourne, Florida; four grandsons: Stephen Dahl (Traci) of Woodbridge, VA; Michael Dahl of Yorktown, VA; Jeff Dahl (Elena) of Melbourne, Florida; and Christopher Dahl (Peggy) of Seaford, VA, step-grandsons: Steve Hilderbrand (Cindy) of Aurora, Colorado, David Hilderbrand of Melbourne, Florida, and ten great-grandchildren.
A 10 am visitation followed by an 11 am Memorial Service will be held January 18, 2019, at the Lakeshore Congregational Methodist Church in Byram, Mississippi, with the Reverend Glynn Pope officiating. The Reverend Wayne Sellers, cousin of Mrs. Benton, will assist. A private graveside service and interment will take place at Lakewood South Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Jackson MS. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
