Hazel Headley Obituary

Hazel M. Headley, a native and lifelong resident of Port Gibson, passed away Sunday, March 30, 2008, at her home. She was 78 years old. Hazel worked for the Superintendent of Education for the Claiborne County School System for 35 years. After retiring from the school system, she became office manager for her son, Dr. David Headley. She worked there for 23 years and retired for the second time in 2006.
Visitation for family and friends were Tuesday, April 1, 2008, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Headley home in Port Gibson. Services will be held Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Port Gibson United Methodist Church of which Hazel was a member. A short visitation will be held before the services beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Burial will follow at the Headley Family Cemetery. Attendees are invited to the Headley home for fellowship following the services.
Hazel leaves behind her husband of 59 years, Mott R. Headley, II, of Port Gibson; her sons, Mott R. Headley, Jr., and his wife, Linda of Port Gibson, Dr. David M. Headley and his wife, Jezelle of Port Gibson, Melvin E. Headley and his wife, Daireth of Madison, Mark L. Headley and his wife, Debbie of of Madison, and Dr. Massie H. Headley and his wife, Joy of Madison; her sister, Jessie Mae Ellis of Port Gibson and ten grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Mott R. Headley, Jr., Dr. David M. Headley, Melvin E. Headley, Mark L. Headley, Dr. Massie H. Headley, and Hal Hunt Headley, Jr.
Hazel would like her friends to know that she cherished all your thoughts, prayers, and kindnesses.
Donations can be made in her name to the Port Gibson United Methodist Church.
