Howard T. Brown

Howard Thomas Brown, 94 - passed away March 15, 2014 at St. Dominic's Hospital of respiratory failure.

He was born Sept. 29, 1919 in Nordheim, TX.

In 1944 he started work in oil exploration. In 1945 he married Lil Pesek. They lived in many states and Canada for oil business. In 1966, they moved to Pearl and began attending St. Jude Catholic Church. They later moved to Florence in 1984 and a year later, 1985 he retired from Ray Geophysical. In Nov. 2012 they moved to Heritage House Assisted Living and became members of St. Paul's Catholic Church.

Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Andrew and Viola Burt Brown; two sisters and three brothers.

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lil; daughter Bonnie Alford (Joe); son Michael (Cylinda); grandchildren: Sarah Alford Gilbert (Stephen), Jace Alford, and Matt Brown; one great-granddaughter, Taylor Gilbert; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family would like to thank Chris Huff with Camelia Hospice and St. Dominic Chronic Care Clinic, without whom we would not have had him for as long as we did.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m. Tuesday, March 18 at Lakewood Funeral Home. The service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 11 a.m. Tuesday with interment following in Lakewood Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, family requests memorial donations to St. Paul's Catholic Church.

So sorry to hear about Uncle Howard! Mom and I were just porch sitting and wondering about y'all. I hope Aunt Lil is doing okay. If any of you are on Facebook, please friend me under Kathy Ann Brown living in Scott, La.

This is the hardest things we can go through, because we are never prepared for death of a love one, so please find comfort in knowing sickness, pain and death will one day be no more for this has been promised to us. Please except my deep condolences.
