Jack Richard Hill, 80 passed away February 21, 2014 at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. A memorial service will be held in the Chapel of First Baptist Church Jackson at time to be announced later. Mr. Hill was born April 29, 1933 in St. Joseph, MO to Byron W. and Alice H. Hill. Jack attended William Jewell College in Liberty, MO and Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, MO. Following college Mr. Hill served his county as a translator for the U.S. Army stationed in Germany. Mr. Hill moved to Jackson in 1981 where he was employed as a Senior Industrial Developer with what is now the Mississippi Development Authority. He ended 23 years of service in state government in 2004 upon his retirement from the Addie McBryde Center for the Blind, a division of the Mississippi Dept. of Rehabilitation Services. Mr. Hill was a member of First Baptist Church Jackson. He was a faithful member of the FBCJ Sanctuary Choir where he was a bass soloist, member of the Kinsmen's quartet and ensembles. Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Sharon Chapman Hill, son Eric Morgan Hill and wife Jeanne of Watervliet, NY, son Richard Clark Hill of Cary, NC, sister Onilee Holferty and husband Fred of Kansas City, MO, nieces and nephews. The family is profoundly grateful to Mr. Hill's longtime caregiver, JoAnn Owens, for her dedication and devotion to "Mr. Jack". The family also wishes to express thanks to Dr. William E. Loper, III, the dedicated professionals at St. Dominic's Hospital and the exceptional team at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland for their care and support.
