James H. Hargrove

Greenwood

James H. Hargrove, 91, died April 7, 2011 at the Greenwood Leflore Hospital. Funeral services are 11 A.M. Saturday April 9 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Dr. Joe Pate and Rev. Glenn Seefeld will officiate. Visitation will be from 5-7 P.M. Friday at the funeral home. Mr. Hargrove was born in Avalon, MS to Thomas H. and Alma Hill Hargrove in 1919. He lived in Sidon, MS for a number of years where he attended school. He served in the US Army during World War II and moved to Greenwood after the war. James and his brother, Tommy, opened a service station together and operated Hargrove Trucking Company. In 1957 purchased Delta Distributing Company Mr. Hargrove was a member of 1st United Methodist Church, he had coached little league baseball, was an assistant Scout Master, and was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Elk's Lodge and the V.F. W.

Preceded in death by his wife Kathryn Hargrove and daughter Kathryn Short, he is survived by his wife Joyce, two sons, Hank Hargrove of Greenwood, MS and Jim Hargrove of Winona, MS, a sister Joyce Cox, Seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.

Pallbearers are James Hargrove, Reed Hargrove, David Short, William Hargrove, Hunter Hargrove, Ben Hargrove, Mike McLellan, and Pete Galey.

Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery with graveside military honors provided by American Legion Post #29,
