John McAllister Obituary

John McAllister

Jackson

John William McAllister passed away July 26, 2015 after a lengthy illness, surrounded by family. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lois McAllister and his father, William "Bill" McAllister.

John graduated from Central High School in 1962 then attended Hinds Community Jr. College. He then joined the Navy and served his country honorably for eight years. He met the love of is his life, Linda, in 1965 and they married in 1967. John got a kick out of telling everyone they had one date a year for three years, then dated seriously for three months and married. God blessed them with two beautiful children, Tammie McAllister Simmons and Brian McAllister.

John retired from Capital City Beverage in 2011. Before that he was plant supervisor for Jackson packing Company for twenty-eight years. John was a member of Southside Baptist Church. He loved his Sunday school class, but got too sick to attend. He truly loved his Lord and could tell you anything you wanted to know about the Bible. He knew his Bible. He loved to tell anyone about his Lord. He loved nothing more than spending time with his children and grandchildren. He was a big Saints and Mississippi State fan. One of is greatest times was going to see the Saints play with his son. Linda would tell everyone that God sent John to her when she needed him most. He truly blessed her with a Godly man. He was a wonderful husband and father. We went everywhere and did everything together. He was my best friend.

John is survived by his wife, Linda of 48 years; daughter, Tammie and her husband, Preston; son, Brian and his wife, Hope; nine grandchildren,Alexandra Simmons, Colston Simmons, Skylar Simmons, Melissa McAllister, Tristan McAllister, Justin Bullock, Patrick Bullock, Brandon Bullock, and Tyler Bullock; sister, Susan Harris; brother, Charles McAllister; three nephews and one niece.

Visitation will be 5-8pm Tuesday, July 28, 2015 and 1pm until the 2pm funeral service Wednesday, July 29, 2015, all at Chancellor Funeral Home in Byram, with Brother Jeff Parker officiating. Pallbearers will be Colston Simmons, Tristan McAllister, Bryce Mott, Patrick Bullock, Tyler Bullock and Steve Bounds. Burial will be a Lakewood Cemetery. As a very young lady(18) I went to work at Jackson Packing Co. I worked in the business office and visited the plant a couple of times a day. John (Mac) as we called him was normally there at each visit and was always a hoot! He always picked on me as being a baby and the apple of my grandfather's eye. My grandfather, Herbert Richardson and Uncle Vonaview Richardson worked in the plant as well and knew and liked Mac too. I will always appreciate Mac's sweet demeanor and caring spirit towards me. My condolences to the family. May The Lord hold each of in His arms giving you comfort and peace.

Linda, John was a very nice young man and I thought about him not long ago while going thru my annual from Central. I knew him at Hardy Jr. High also and I keep our 9th grade class picture out. We know where he is now and that is with the Lord and you will see him again. May GOD bless you and your family at this time.

Linda...what a flash from the past. So sorry to hear of Mac's passing. I loved you both, in separate lives, but am so thankful you found each other and had so many good years together. One of my best memories of him, was going to the pool hall, and watching him play, while we waited on Kent to get out of summer school. He was always a HOOT!!!! I pray that God wraps His loving arms around you all, and gives you His peace, strength and grace..much love STILL.....
