Larry Bonds Obituary

Larry Bonds

Iuka

Beloved husband and father, Larry Russell Bonds, 72, of Iuka went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, May 17, 2017, after an extended battle with cancer. Larry was known for his tremendous work ethic, working alongside his family at the helm of Bonds Company, a road building company started by his own father and uncles in 1950. Larry served in the US Army and was deployed for 13 months to Korea. When he came home, he married his high school sweetheart, Andrea Phillips, and together they created a loving family. After earning his Bachelor of Education at Mississippi State University on the GI Bill, Larry and Andrea made their home in Tishomingo County. Larry was proud of his community and served in many capacities. He served as past president of the Mississippi Asphalt Pavement Association, member of the Tishomingo County Economic Development Foundation, president of the Walker Switch Water Association, member of the Tishomingo Health Services Board of Directors, member of the Tishomingo County Board of Education, and a Mason. Larry was also active at Iuka Baptist Church, serving as a deacon, choir member, and Sunday School teacher. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, May 19, 2017 from 5:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. at the Iuka Baptist Church. Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 20, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the Iuka Baptist Church. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with the arrangements. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Russell and Tressie Bonds; his brother David; and his sister Joan. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Andrea Phillips Bonds; his children, Phillip Larry, Dennis Russell and his wife, Alison, and Ashley Anne; two grandchildren, Madeline Tressie and Anna Faith; and his sister, Jean Bonds Crane. Larry also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Larry's pallbearers are Russ Ferguson, Jay Linley, Matthew Linley, Brant Phillips, Clay Phillips and Adam Wyers. Honorary pallbearers are Charles Bonds, Gary Bonds, Jerry Bonds, Johnny Bonds, Tommy Bonds, Edwin Booth, Harold Booth, and Doyle Morton. The family requests that any memorials be made to Vanderbilt University Hospital, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, and Iuka Baptist Church.
