Marci Stevens Obituary

Marci Stevens

Franklin, TN

Martha Nell Stevens (Marci) aged 56 of Nashville, passed away September

23, 2017. Preceded in death by her parents, Roland and Martha

(Burckhalter) Stevens and her niece, Martha Blair Sonnenberg. Marci was

born on December 19,1960, in Yazoo City, Mississippi where she attended

Yazoo City schools, played in the band, and sang in the First Baptist

Church choir. Marci was known for her good sense of humor and

kindness, a friend to all. With her talent to sing solos and harmony and

play the keyboard, Marci had a real heart for sharing her music in bands

that played throughout the Delta.

Marci was devoted to her family and exemplified that when she moved

from Mississippi to Nashville to help and support her mother in her later

years. Her family includes brothers, Skip and Burck; sister, Karen; sister-inlaw,

Jackie, and brother-in-law, Steve. Marci loved her nieces and

nephews, Brittani and Blair (Sonnenberg), Will and Janie (Hannon),

Jackson and Rob (Stevens), and Roland and Davis (Stevens). "Micky,

Trevor, and Zach" were her beloved dogs.

In the last two years, Marci's chronic illness required that she live in a

hospital rehabilitation center. She was often seen stopping in her

wheelchair to say hello to each fellow resident, some who could hardly

speak. Marci seemed to have a unique ability to connect with her friends

there, at times through a simple smile, joining them in a song, or just gently

holding their hand.

We will miss her, always.

A funeral service will be held at First Baptist Church in Yazoo City at 11:30

on Wednesday morning, September 27th. Visitation will be held an hour

before at 10:30, also at the church.

My prayers are for those of you left to grieve the loss of your little sister. I hope and pray in days ahead you will find peace knowing that she no longer suffers and is at home with her savior in her new body, singing and playing her music with all those we have lost before her. God bless you all and much peace to each of you.

So sad about Marci. She was a bright spot on God's earth. Have great memories of her and her sweet alto voice. My thoughts and prayers are with the entire Stevens family.
