Owen Urschel Lane

Owen Lane Obituary

Owen Urschel Lane, born May 14, 2004 in New Orleans, Louisiana, died on Sunday August 26, 2007, as a result of injuries sustained during a fall on the previous day in Telluride, Colorado.
Owen had recently moved to Missoula, Montana, with his parents, Mark Lane and Elizabeth Urschel, who will miss him terribly. Each day of his life brought previously unimaginable wonder and delight to his parents and many loved ones. His intelligence, curiosity, sense of humor, and capacity for joy and unconditional love were a lesson and an inspiration. May those of us who knew Owen strive to live up to the example he set, and to remember his soulful, smiling face. May we also forever cherish those moments of beauty and happiness that his presence made possible, even as these moments will be horribly absent from our lives in the years to come.
In addition to his parents, Owen is survived by his grandparents, Ernie and Donna Lane of Oxford, Mississippi, and Margaret Urschel and John Kell of Kingsland, Texas; three aunts, Laura Lane Widerkehr, Claire Lane Fowler, and Sydne Didier; three uncles, John Urschel, Bob Widerkehr, and John Fowler; and four cousins, Aidan Urschel, Lane Widerkehr, John Coleman Fowler, and Hannah Katherine Widerkehr.
A memorial service for Owen will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 1, at the University Congregational Church, 405 University Avenue, Missoula. Owen will be buried at the Missoula City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Owen's name to the Donor Alliance, 720 South Colorado Boulevard, Suite 800-N, Denver, Colorado 80246.

Mark and Elizabeth, I was incredibly grieved to learn about your loss. My husband and I have lost a son and although we know your pain is uniquely your own, having loved your precious child, we understand your emptiness. We also feel connected to you since my husband and I met in Missoula. Peace be with you. We are praying for your healing.
