Ralph Morgan Obituary

Ralph Lamar Morgan

Ridgeland

Ralph Lamar Morgan, 66, passed away on December 17, 2016 after suffering a stroke. He was born at Indianola, MS on July 22, 1950, the son of Talmadge Vester, Sr. and Willodean Hutchinson Morgan. He graduated in 1969 from Calloway High School in Jackson; he graduated from Ole Miss in 1973 and later earned his master's degree from Mississippi State University. During college he traveled extensively with his brother, Red, with the R & B band "The Royal American Showmen". He enjoyed staying in shape with biking, running, and exercising. He was a dedicated employee of MS Department of Rehabilitation, working for a number of years at Addie McBryde Center for the Blind, then moving into administration where he was involved in various capacities; he retired after 33 years of service. He enjoyed baseball, football, reading, and traveling. Most of all Ralph loved being owned by his Scottish Terriers: Maggie, Molly, Maisie, Michael, Murphy, and Mackey, and was truly devoted to them.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 31 years, Mary Jane Blythe Morgan of Ridgeland, MS; a brother, Red Morgan (Susan) of Wellington, FL; three nephews, Jesse Morgan of Seattle, WA; Daniel (Suky) Blythe of Hattiesburg, MS; and Nathan Blythe of Houston, TX.

A memorial service and interment will be held at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 at the O'Neal-Cox Cemetery in Stone County, MS.

The family would like to thank all the friends who sent prayers, food, and love. Memorial donations may be made in his memory to the TN Scottie Rescue (check made to Scottie Rescue "memorial for Ralph Morgan"; mailed to Ginger McAfee/420 Ash Dr./Baxter, TN 28544), or to a charitable organization of their choice.

My Dear Brother Ralph...

It has now been 6 years since we lost you. My heart still hurts. I miss you so very much.

I give the tiny urn with some of your ashes a grin in your honor when I see it every day here in Wellington, FL.

You and I had great times and great memories over the years we had each other.

You will ALWAYS be my best friend and I miss you so very much.

Ralph, I just uploaded my favorite photo of our day way back up near Ackerman, MS. The 3 Morgans... Red, Ralph & your nephew and my son Jesse.

One day we will be united again.

All My Love... Your Brother... Red Morgan 12-13-2022

I have fond memories of my friendship with Ralph and Red. Visiting at there moms in Belhaven , going on gigs, and even keeping Ralphs car when he was giging. He was generous knowing I didnt have a car, and I was scared knowing he kept it pristine. I hold warm thoughts for you all and am grateful for knowing your family.

I had the pleasure of working with Ralph in the early and formative years of the Royal American Showmen. His positive attitude, personality and fun spirit was inspiring and contagious and contributed much to all of us who knew him. I am so thankful and blessed that I got to know him as a friend and member of our musical family.

Ralph and I were long time colleagues at MDRS. He was one of the most respectful gentleman I've met. Will continue to pray for the family.

I was reminded of Ralph a few weeks ago when I heard of his retirement. I knew him in the days of the RAS and traveled with him. He was quick witted and a sweet soul. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing! Prayers for family and friends. RIP Ralph!

I wish to convy my deepest sympathy in the loss of Ralph.

Ralph exemplified the utmost southern charm and intellect with his beautiful haert and wonderful mind.

I had the honor to work with Ralph for over two decades at MDRS and knew him as the most kind and caring person who always made others better. Ralph certainly added to my life as a friend and co-worker and for this I am veery thankful for.

I know that the world has lost a great person but heaven has gained an incredible angel to look after all of us.
