I'm proud to say that Ray was one of my very best friends while we attended junior high school together in Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was always a little ahead of me in his worldly wisdom...he had to explain the Supremes song, "Love Child" to me on our way back from a Truth concert in Canton, MS. I love the whole Clower family, having been in their home numerous times for TV football games and for Miss Homerline to hear me recite memory verses for my Bible Memory Association assignments. As time and distance have separated us, people still ask me from time to time, "Did you know Jerry Clower?" Not only do I respond, "yes," but i claim with truthful pride that I went to school with Ray from Kindergarten through college at Mississippi State University. Though it's been years since I've seen Ray, it seems only yesterday that we sat together in Coach "Bigfoot" Jones' PE in Elementary Schools class at MSU. Miss Homerline, I think of you often, even after all these years, and reminisce about life in old Yazoo with my family. Chris, Amy, Sue, and Katy, may the Lord give you and your families grace as you face this Christmas season and beyond without your dear husband, son, and brother. "May the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 4:6).

Ray was one of my best friends when we were in junior high schoo in Yazoo City, Mississippi. I remember he had to explain the Supremes song "Love Child" to me on the way back from hearing Truth sing at First Baptist Church, Canton, MS. It was an honor to know his whole family, to be in the Clower's home for TV football games and for Homerline to hear me recite memory verses as part of my Bible Memory Association work. When people ask me if I knew Jerry Clower, I tell them that Ray and I went to school together from Kndergarten through college at Miss. State. We prayed ernestly for Ray's recovery from a tragic car accident he had in high school. Though it's been many years and miles between us, I will always remember Ray and his dear family. May God bless all of you during this time of sorrow.

I am blessed to have known Ray as a co-worker and even more blessed to have counted him among my friends. He never failed to inspire the children he taught or to bring a smile to the faces of those around him. He was a kind and gentle man who will always be remembered for trying to bring happiness to others. God has taken his child home where I know he will be at peace.

Mr. Closer was more than a teacher to me he was a friend and like a family member. He always could tell when something was wrong or goin on with me. He cared about his students like they were his own kids. He treated each of us differently but all in a special day. He also was my softball coach. I loved hearing the story of how the deer ran into the car it was hilarious. Mr. Clower will always be a part of my life. I loved his wisdom that he put I. Everything. My thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends. God Bless you all!

Just noticed Ray's passing. Grew up down the street, went to school and church with Ray. Heard Uncle Jerry's coon hunting stories long before the rest of the world. The Clower's were always good people. Though I have not seen in many decades, I have many great memories growing up with Ray in Yazoo City.

Coach Clower was my 7th grade science teacher at Bayou View Jr. High and has always been my favorite teacher. I looked forward to attending his class because he made everyone feel special and loved. I even tried to fail his class so that I could be in it another year but he was such a great teacher that you had to learn and succeed.

Coach Clower was a great and memorable teacher and I consider myself lucky to have been in his 7th grade science class, and then in his driver's ed class several years later. He was so kind and down to earth, and had such a great sense of humor. I was so sad to hear of his passing. He will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Clower, I would imagin the worst thing that could happen would be to lose a child. My heart grieves for you and your family and for Ray's wife and family.
I will never forget growing up in Yazoo City and going to First Baptist Church, where you and Mr. Clower were a great influence on my life.
Thank you for being who you are and for being the wonderful Christian Mother you are.

Mr. Clower was one of the kindest men I ever had the pleasure of knowing. While we only taught together for 3 years at Baker High School, I quickly learned that he was a man who loved God, his church, his family, and the students he taught. He will be missed by many here at Baker High. Ray would spend many a lunch period in the teacher's lounge sharing the wisdom and humor he collected during his life. I will miss those times and his influence. My condolences to his family on their loss.

Coach Clower was one of the most inspirational teachers in my life. He had the ability to teach while entertaining and making a difficult class a joy to look forward to. Although I haven't seen him in many years, His is a name i've discussed many many times when describing the fun and educational times of my life. he taught me that if you are truly interested in what a teacher is trying to teach, they will go above and beyond to help you learn. He truly cared, showed love to his students, and will be missed...My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. (Bayou

Ruth Ann and I are saddened by the untimely death of Ray Clower. We lived in Yazoo City 1963 - 1969 and were blessed to know the Clower family. In fact Jerry introduced me to the Gideon Ministry and I have been a member all these years since that time.

Coach Clower was and will remain one of my favorite teachers! He liked me because I was the only girl in class that watched WCW wrestling. He used to put extra credit questions on tests about the matches! He will be missed
