Robin Robertson

Madison - Robin Barnett Robertson passed from this life on November 9, 2018 at the age of 67. Born May 22, 1951 in Batesville Arkansas, he was the son of Carol Barnett Robertson and the late William J. ("Bill") Robertson. Robin completed his undergraduate education at the University of Oregon, where he studied photography under Brett Weston and Ansel Adams. He was an accomplished photographer and videographer. He loved sailing and canoeing.

Early in their marriage, Robin and his wife Beverly enjoyed living in the country, at Stribling Lake near Madison Mississippi. Robin could tell colorful stories about various work projects, such as the years when he was on the production crew at Mississippi Educational TV, where he worked on programs like Justin Wilson's "Cookin' Cajun" and "Mississippi Roads," and the time he was Location Manager for the film "My Dog Skip."

Robin was preceded in death by his father William J. Robertson. He is survived by his wife Beverly Perkins Robertson and their daughter Anna Selene Robertson of Madison, Mississippi. Robin is also survived by his mother, Carol Barnett Robertson of Batesville, Arkansas; brother William J. Robertson Jr. of Nashville, Tennessee; sister Catharine Robertson Harrington (husband Frank) of Aberdeen, Mississippi; and brother Randall Ball Robertson (wife Patricia) of Winter Park, Florida.

A good friend in college at the UofO. Met him in a class for a group of art and architecture students to "study" a spring term in Greece. A true friend from the wilds of Mississippi. All the pictures I took in Greece were shot on the wrong settings in my new Canon SLR. Every negative was dark resulting in grainy crappy prints. He still was nice to me, encouraging crap prints. So funny. We played frisbee golf every summer evening in 1978. Doors, statues etc were the greens throughout the campus. He drove that big red jeep/gmc thing. The man lived large. I know this is 2024 and he passed so long ago, but I just thought about him again, searched him out and this sad news appeared. I am so glad that he had a full life and was loved by so many. That´s all we hope for. Good bless you sweet prince.

Robin was my first photography teacher at the Mississippi Museum of Art. That was back in the early '80s. When he showed his photos from Greece, I understood what great photography is. Miss those classes and the the inspiring teacher.

Dear Beverly, Anna, and Robertson Family,
One of the original "good guys" of North Jackson, he will be remembered for his kindness, humor, and talent!
We had many good days working together at POETS and it was a moment in time that seemed to stand still.
May God bless your family.

Dear Family of Robin, I've never seen a spirit shine through has perfectly as this beautiful photograph of Robin. How apropos, with him being a professional photographer and filmmaker so talented, that he be captured as beautiful and exuberant a man as I was happy to call friend. I knew Robin for forty years and I am the benefactor of that friendship. I learned so much about art, music, photography, the loyalty of friendship, kindness, the joy of laughter surrounding him and the camaraderie of all of his friends. I think to share the beautiful lake he lived on and entertain his friends was the happiest I ever saw him. He spoke of his love for his wife, Beverly, and the twinkle in his eye, his daughter, Anna Selene, with pride when I ran into him over the years. He was a kind, beautiful soul and I saw that with his loving, respectful relationship with his Mother, Carol. To all of Robin's beloveds, I pray for your comfort and peace~ Robin, I will miss seeing you gliding in your ever present Jeep, waving as your Ray Bans and your big smile gleam in the sun~ Your friend,
Amy
