Canton

Mathew Eugene Dunn, 87, died on October 26,2016, at St. Dominic Hospital in Jackson, MS. He was born on May 15, 1929, in Neshoba County, the son of Henry Temple Dunn and Lillie Fortenberry. He has been a resident of the Canton community since 1947, and is a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Evie Jewel Jones; son, Bennie Thomas Dunn; brothers, Odis, Marshall, William, Sam, and Laverne; sisters, Mary Novie, Emily Eugenia, Hettie Ruth Cutrer (John), Nettie May Higginbothom (Claud), Lucille Beckham (Hershel), Irma Jane Johnson (Raymond).

He is survived by Eugene Dunn (Phyllis) of Canton, Wallace Dunn (Barbara) of

Gluckstadt, Pat Bounds (Robert) of Canton, Horace Dunn (Ladonna) of Brandon, Doris Malone of Farmhaven, and Roger Dunn (Cyndi) of Pelahatchie, 17 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.

He spent most of his adult life in the woodworking business; King Lumber, Madison Furniture, and Shelby Industries. One of his greatest pleasures was sharing his woodcraft with his friends and family, while whittling cedar was his greatest pastime, it was also his country style meditation and relaxation. He also enjoyed watching his backyard wildlife, which he considered his friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 29th at Culpepper Funeral Home, Canton, MS, with burial following in the Canton Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, October 28th from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at the Culpepper Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be: Stephen Dunn, Johnathan Cleveland, Drew Malone, Daniel Malone, Temple Dunn, and Connor Dunn. Honorary pallbearers will be: Randle Dunn, Christopher Dunn, Daniel Lamouranne, Kodie Dunn, and Matthew Dunn.

In lieu of flowers, Mathew's wishes were that donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church, Canton.
