Thomas Greer Obituary

Thomas Hastings Greer, Sr., of Pensacola, FL died Saturday, August 25, 2007, at the age of 94. Mr. Greer was born in Paris, TN to Stanley Thomas and Anna Hastings Greer on July 27, 1913.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Dorothy West Ellison Greer.
Tommy graduated from Bowling Green Business School and the Memphis School Of Law. He worked with The William A. Webster Pharmaceutical Co. of Memphis and was a partner in Southland Motor Co. of Macon, MS. He was owner of the B.F. Goodrich Auto Store of Starkville, MS. He retired as an auditor from the Mississippi State Tax Commission. Tommy and Dot moved to Pensacola, FL in 1995.
Mr. Greer was active in The Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS, serving as Senior Warden, Junior Warden and Treasurer.
Survivors include a son, Thomas H. Greer, Jr. and his wife, Joy, of Meridian, MS; two daughters, Laura Bess Greer Clapp and her husband, Roger of Florence, MS and Dorothy Greer Tampary and her husband, Anthony (Bubba) of Pensacola, FL.
His nine grandchildren will serve as Pallbearers: Thomas H. Greer III, Laura Greer Holladay, Debbie Greer Tucker, Roger Clapp, Jr., Todd Clapp, Andrew Clapp, Benjamin Clapp, Anthony Tampary, Jr., and Mary Alex Tampary Dill. He is also survived by seventeen great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Tuesday, August 28, 2007 today at the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Grenada, MS with the Rev. Lynn Barker of All Saints Episcopal Church officiating.
The family would like to extend special thanks to the caring staffs of Consulate Health Care and Covenant Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection in Starkville, MS or to a charity of choice.
Waters and Hibbert Funeral Home of Pensacola, FL and Garner Harper Funeral Home of Grenada, MS are in charge of arrangements.

I just wanted to say that I will truly miss Mr. Greer. I enjoyed spending time with him daily at work as he went up and down the halls. He always had a smile on his face and could make you laugh anytime you saw him. He will be truly missed by the staff at Consulate.
