Thomas Howard Obituary
1945-2018 - Tom passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2018, at the age of 73.
Visitation will be held at Lakeside Presbyterian Church on Monday, May 14th, at 9:00 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM.
Tom was born on March 2, 1945 and was a native of Hattiesburg, MS. He graduated in 1967 from Mississippi State University with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He was a member of Sigma Chi fraternity and served as president his senior year. Since 1977, he resided in the Reservoir area of Rankin County. He was a longtime member of Lakeside Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon and chairman of Lakeside Presbyterian preschool from 1984-2000. He was a Northwest Rankin high school sports enthusiast and faithfully served the members of the Northwest Rankin FCA every Friday at 7:30am. Survivors include Robin McMillin Howard (wife); three sons, Joe Bob of Fairbanks, AK, Sam (Ann) of Madison, MS, T. Mac (Meagan) of Greenwood, MS; and one daughter, JaneKelly Howard (Paul) of Cordova, TN, and numerous grandchildren.

It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of my boyhood friend. Tom and I went to Camp Elementary School in Hattiesburg (my mother may have taught him in the 4th grade) and although our paths only crossed infrequently after college, it was always great to see him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Robin and his family.

Robin and Family,
When my parents (Frank and Peggy Henderson) moved us to Jeff City, the friendships they made continued for decades. I have many memories of Tom before you married him and certainly after as well. I'm so sorry for your loss, and I'm hoping he has now met up with my dad for some laughs and stories.

All I remember is a kind, happy-go-lucky man who loved his family. I taught his boys at Northwest Rankin. They honored their father by their work and dedication. Heaven gained a beautiful soul. Prayers for his family.

Tom was truly one of a kind. His humility and grace was evident in all he said and did. His legacy will be carried on by his four wonderful children and perhaps others who knew him well and and shared hisi beliefs. He will be missed by many, more than they even know at this point but true to form, he would want us to carry on without making a fuss. That was and is Tom,

Tom used to come with Robin to our Silver Sneakers Class. i don't think his heart was in the exercising but he certainly kept us occupied with his humor as he attempted to keep up. Robin, he has been in our prayers since you passed along that he was not doing well when we last saw you. Our prayers are now with you and your family.

Tom Howard was the very first friend I made when we moved to Mississippi in 1997. Monday we will say goodbye to a truly great man who made a difference in the lives of so many people and truly embodied the best qualities we would all hope to have. He faithfully served God and his church with a love dedication that will forever be unmatched. I am truly thankful for the example he left for myself and my family and we will greatly miss him but we cling to the truth that we will see him again.
