Wayne Conerly Obituary

Wayne Conerly, 75, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2007 at St. Dominic's Hospital after a short battle with cancer. Services will be held on Saturday June 30, 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Raymond with visitation one hour prior to service. Lakewood Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
Wayne was born on November 16, 1931 in Osyka, MS. After serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, Wayne returned to Jackson where he graduated from Mississippi College with honors in 1964. Wayne and longtime friend and business partner Larry Estes founded Conerly Construction in 1965. A man of deep and abiding faith, he was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raymond where he taught a men's Sunday School class. Wayne was a man of the highest integrity, both in his personal and professional life.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ethel Strickland Conerly, his father, Willis Conerly, and a brother, Doyle Conerly.
Survivors include: his wife, June Conerly; two daughters, Karen Prevost and husband, Tim, Ann Meek and husband, Tom; three sisters, Ouida, Juanita, and Willie Mae; brother, Jewel Conerly; four grandchildren, Dan Prevost and wife, Jessica, Melissa Keen and husband, Dusty, Will Prevost, and Emily Meek; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His wisdom and understanding influenced the lives of many, and he will be dearly missed. Memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123-1718, or the Youth Building Fund for the First Baptist Church of Raymond, MS.
