Wilbur Glenn Merchant

Wilbur Glenn Merchant, 71, died Friday, November 17, 2006, at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland. Visitation is 2-8 p.m. today at Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Morton. Funeral services are 2 p.m. Monday at Leesburg Baptist Church in Morton with burial in the Leesburg Baptist Cemetery.

Mr. Merchant was a retired farmer and truck driver. He was a member of the Lake Harbor Baptist Church at Sand Hill and was an ordained deacon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Grady and Ruby Craig Merchant, and a brother, James Merchant.

Survivors include: his wife, Dorothy D. Bates Merchant of Brandon; three daughters, Sharon Ivy and husband, Danny of McCalla, Ala., Glenda Alman and husband, Buck of Pelahatchie, and Melisa Lytal of Leesburg; five sisters, Vivian Still of West Monroe, La., Rosie Byrd of Huntsville, Ala., Lovell Smith of La Place, La., Opal Irby of Morton, and Carolyn Lawrence of Pisgah; four brothers, Joe Merchant of Morton, Grady C. Merchant of Crystal Springs, Willie Merchant of Coal Bluff, and Mark Merchant of Lake Harbor; seven grandchildren, Summer Ivy Hammett, Chance Ivy, Bucky Alman, Dusty Alman, James Lytal, Jordan Lytal, and Savannah Bonner; and three great-grandchildren, Lennon Young, Grace Alman, and C.J. Ivy.
