William Compere Obituary
William E. Compere, Jr. known by his family and friends as "Buddy" and to his trucking buddies by his CB name, "Peanut" was a life-long resident of the Mt. Creek community in Florence. He was a retired owner and operator of W.E. Compere Trucking Company. He started his long haul trucking at the age of 17.
He is survived by his brother, L.D. Compere of Florence; sisters, Mamie Ruth Sowell of Richland and Margaret Gordon of Florence.

LynDecell,Laverne,Mamie Ruth and Margaret, I am so sorry to learn of Buddy's death. He was very dear to us as all of the Compere'e are even though we are not blood kin. We also just considered all of you as our cousins.I am sorry I couldn't go to the funeral home but I am still grieving over losing my son last year and I just don't get out much. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time. You had a precious baby brother and he will be greatly missed by all.

What a shock to hear of Buddy's passing! He constantly went out of his way to be such a sweetheart to me and my family, always asking about my sons serving overseas, and throwing some comical comment in that would always make me laugh. I too will miss his ever present wave as you passed by his home. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family.

I live on Henry Byrd Road and will miss Mr. Compere waving each time I pass by his shop from now on. May God's peace fill the void his family and friends are experiencing.
