My heart is heavy. I just heard the news today about Billy. He and Peggy were friends of my parents and in HS me and a friend of mine stayed a few days with them during the summer. I must say Billy and Peggy were about the finest people anyone could ever meet. Billy was a great man and will be dearly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with the family. I wish there were more people like Billy Talbot in this world.

I want to let the Talbot family know that my thoughts and prayers are with them during this very difficult time. When I first heard the news, it was a shock, followed by a sense of sadness, but then an afternoon of smiles and happy thoughts, as memories of good times with Mr. Billy filled my mind. He was my Boy Scoutmaster when I first joined the scouts. It didn't take long to see that he was like a magnet for kids, and that he loved every minute of it. I can clearly remember the first camping trip we went on when all of us "rookie" scouts were literally scared to death from all the wild tales the older guys had filled our ears with. We ended up with an odd number of boys and tents, so Mr. Billy asked me if I wanted to stay in his tent. Suddenly my fear was gone and from that point on, he was my buddy and has been a good ole buddy every since.
Thirty years later, my son worked for him at his pool business several summers during his high school years and loved every minute of it. He never failed to come home at night and tell us either something funny that Mr. Billy had done or a funny story that Mr. Billy had told him that day. With all the fond memories I have of Mr. Billy, I know that Bill and Pat, along with their children and grandchildren, must have volumes full to keep them all smiling, not only through this time of bereavement, but for the rest of their lives.
