Jerry Chandler Obituary

Jerry Steven Chandler, age 68, entered into eternal rest on the evening of Tuesday, January 14th, at Tennova Medical Center. Jerry's life was a testament to kindness, friendship, and the grace of Jesus. He was born on May 26, 1956, in Albuquerque, N.M., to the late Jerry (Jack) Chandler and Grace K. Chandler. Jerry is preceded in death by his sister, Kathy Whitt; brother-in-law, Mark Whitt; and brother, Ricky Chandler. Jerry shared his life with his beloved "sweetie," Karen Chandler. As a father and grandfather, he offered an abundance of love, encouragement, and fun. He was a source of strength and support to his loving sisters and brother. As a barber and owner of Cuts Unlimited, he was a listening ear and a friend to everyone he met through the years. An avid fisherman who felt at home in nature, Jerry found the most peace and happiness camping at Piney or out on the water - making countless memories and "fishing stories" with family, customers, and friends. He is survived by his wife, Karen Chandler; son, Jeremy Chandler (Mary); daughter, Ciji Rittenberry; grandchildren, Eleanor, Margot, Lizzie, Billie, Colton, Mikey, and Bryce (Dawn); great-grandchildren, Paisley and Paxton; and his loving sisters, Teresa (Larry) Butts, Renea (Mike) Rosson, and Michelle (Derek) Comperry. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 4 PM at the Chapel of Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, with Brother Roger P. Freeman officiating. Visitation will be from 2-4 PM, with the service to immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to a church or charity of your choice in memory of Jerry. Arrangements are entrusted to Neal-Tarpley-Parchman Funeral Home, 1510 Madison Street, Clarksville, TN 37040; (931) 645-6488. I met Jerry in 1980 and he cut my hair for the last 44 years. Even though I lived in Mt. Juliet and later in Lebanon, I would drive down to get a cut and visit for while. Jerry and I became good friends over those 44+ years. We last chatted over the Thanksgiving weekend when he called me and said he was retiring at the direction of his Doctor. I am sad today and I will greatly miss my friend. Jerry, please know that you and your family are in my and Betty's thoughts and prayers.

Rest in peace my Brother. Tom and Betty Chester
