Joshua was born on Dec. 2,1994 in Marietta, Ga., the son of Johnny Maddox and Mary Aparo Maddox. He was a lifelong resident of Clay and Union counties. Joshua enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing with his friends and was a huge Alabama football fan. Most of all he was a great father who loved his daughters and spending time with them. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. Joshua was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Surviving Joshua is his wife, Savannah, of Young Harris; his two daughters, Lyla and Lily, of Young Harris, his parents, Johnny and Mary Maddox, of Cartersville, Ga., his siblings, Natasha (John) Cerri, of Franklin, N.C., Nikita (Brandon) Maddox, of Canton, N.C., Cale Maddox, of all over the world, Haley Maddox, of Wheaton, Ill.; father-in-law and mother- in-law, Rod Carey and Ginger Davenport, both of Blairsville; several nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date and will be announced. In lieu of flowers if you wish, the family requests that donations may be made to a college fund for the girls at United Community Bank: Lyla Grace Maddox College Fund in Joshua's memory.

I met Josh 3 years ago when he did some work at my place. He was always good to come out when I had a plumbing problem and had a good understanding of how to fix things. I was so impressed with his good character and feel that our community has lost one of the good ones.
May God bless and comfort his friends and family. This was a huge unexpected loss.

I’ve been struggling to find the words after I found out you have left us dear friend. I think often about how you worked for and with me on the many projects we had. We had so many fun times and laughs on so many things. But, one of my most special memories was the honor I had to be at your Army Basic Training graduation. I remember the incredible pride I had walking out on the field to claim you. I will miss you dear friend and I will always carry you in my heart forever..
