My deepest sympathy to the Toohey family and friends. I worked with Brian many years at Jones Day. I was a legal assistant. I can still see his broad smile, enjoy his sense of humor, and understand his seriousness when he had to be. He was a very kind man. May he rest in Peace. Carol M

Brian and I were friends in the Court of Nisi Prius. We shared a particular interest in law that brought us together as friends. He will be missed.

Dear Lisa and Brian's family - I hadn't seen Brian in a bit, but hearing of this loss brought back so many memories of him. The picture posted is so "him" - that smile, that laugh! As a Jones Day summer associate ages ago, I had the privilege of assisting Brian with some sort of pleading, and while his edits were extensive ;-), so was his kindness and compassion for a scared newbie, which I never forgot and which earned my respect. With Lisa's encouragement (thank you Lisa!), I ended up following the same practice path as her, and have enjoyed hearing over the years of about their wonderful family and life together. Sending warm thoughts and love at this very difficult time - never doubt how long and well Brian will be remembered!

Brian was a colleague at Jones Day and a friend. I worked and traveled with him on many firm matters in the '80s and 90's. He was collaborative in his approach -- always asking for my input and making things smoother with his smile and quick retorts. He was one of the good guys. My prayers are with his family.

Dear Lisa, Maureen, Matt, Margaret, Mimi, Betsy, Brian´s brother, Tim and all of their spouses and grandchildren.
Brian was such a warm incredible man in all ways.
We have so many wonderful memories of times together over the years with all of you. I will miss Brian´s ebullient spirit and his Irish laughter. Brian always grinned ear to ear then his whole body would shake with laughter. You couldn´t help but join in the laughter. All our love, Lisa!

Just a few weeks ago, Brian wrote me to comment on the card my wife and I sent him last week. Among the thanks given, Brian was quick to praise all who continue to help him on this journey of health and wellness. Not surprising he listed Lisa as his rock and life-long friend. But in his own words, "God's Will Be Done". He was a prayerful man who was very active in our parish and in so many lives across Ohio. We will miss Brian greatly and know we have another angel praying for our souls. We will see him again. Until then, know that our family and the CWV of St. John Neumann Parish are there for you Lisa and the rest of the family. God Bless each of you with His Love and peace.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Brian's passing. I had the privilege of being his assistant at Jones Day for many years and during that time I came to know what a truly wonderful man he was. Not only a thoughtful and considerate boss, but a genuine person who treated everyone with kindness. I will remember him fondly and with gratitude. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones.

The many comments here make clear that Brian, while being a loving and supportive brother, helped and guided many others, much as he helped and guided me, without judgment, criticism or conditions. I looked up to Brian my whole life and I will continue to do so by honoring his memory and emulating his behavior.

Brian and I were high school (Lew-port) and law school (Cornell) classmates . I was just thinking today of Brian , and when I looked him up, was shocked to learn of his death. We were in touch over the years - especially when planning high school reunions. I have wonderful memories of Brian and extend my sympathies to his family and loved ones. He was a great guy with a big heart and a wonderful sense of humor. My deepest sympathies to Brian´s family and loved ones.

I´m so sorry to hear this. I worked at Jones Day with Brian for about 10 years from about 1982-1993. He was an attorney and I worked primarily in the mailroom. He was one of my favorite attorneys there. He was always super nice and never looked down upon the mailroom crew like so many attorneys there did.
My favorite memory of Brian was in the early 80´s when a group of about 40 staff, attorneys and summer associates from Jones Day went to Oberlin to take an all day skydiving class and subsequently parachute out of a plane once we completed the course. By the end of the day, the weather was no longer suitable for beginners so we had to come back another day.
Out of the group of 40, only 4 of us were brave enough to return. Brian, along with three mailroom guys (myself, Andy and another Bob) traveled back to Oberlin about a week later and the four of us had an experience of a lifetime.
I´ll never forget that day, but I will also never forget Brian´s kindness and his smile. R.I.P., Brian

In addition to his brilliance, Brian was always warm, kind, and genuinely welcoming to me and my family. I will miss visiting with him at firm and ACTEC events. My thoughts and prayers are with Lisa and the entire family.
