JAMES J. POWERS JR. CLINTON - James J. Powers Jr., 78, passed peacefully on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the Oasis at Dodge Park in Worcester. He is predeceased by his sister, Teresa A. Powers. He is survived by generations of cousins, notably, Irene "Renie" Moran of Clinton; Mary Foley and husband Joseph; Joanne Ciociolo-Callahan and husband Daniel, all of West Boylston; William J. Monahan of Shrewsbury, and their families; and many dear friends. Jim was born in Clinton, son of the late James J. and Josephine (Griffin) Powers. He graduated from St. John's Grammar School, Assumption Preparatory School, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Jim spent his professional career as a Civil Engineer, working with Metcalf & Eddy Inc. in Boston and later with Massachusetts Water Resource Association until retiring. Among his hobbies, Jim was an outdoor enthusiast, avid skier and hiker. He cherished summers spent at his home in Chatham and always enjoyed the opportunity to entertain and visit with cousins and friends. A calling hour will be held on Friday, December 6, 2024, from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. in Philbin-Comeau Funeral Home, 176 Water St., Clinton, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, 80 Union St., Clinton, and burial to follow in St. John's Cemetery, Lancaster.
