Jeremy Lormis Obituary

Jeremy Lormis, born on June 6, 1975, in Yakima, Wash., passed away unexpectedly following a brief battle with illness on Sunday, April 21, 2024, in his favorite Sunday afternoon setting, surrounded by his family.
Jeremy was known by many titles throughout his life. He was an avid outdoors man. He loved to hunt, hike, snorkel, snowboard, and of course, fish.
Jeremy moved to Liberty Country, Georgia, in 2004 and one of his favorite things to do was to take family and friends offshore fishing in his boat.
He was also known to many as Dr. Lormis, the professor and counselor, and he loved helping people overcome challenges and find peace in their present circumstances.
Jeremy was a skilled carpenter and a passionate woodworker. He always said, "I'm not a mechanic,", but after having two boys with four-wheelers and boats, he became proficient in that as well. His garage and driveway were often filled with the many projects he was working on.
Anyone who came to his house could also attest that Jeremy was a wonderful chef and baker. His kids would get so excited when they came home from school with their mom and smelled the delicious aroma of their dad's cooking.
Others called him Pastor Jeremy, and as a pastor his guiding theme was to love God and love others, which he demonstrated by loving his community, his neighbors and his family.
Jeremy and Angela were married for nearly 30 years and enjoyed many adventures. Together, they visited 49 out of 50 states and seven countries.
Their greatest treasure is their family.
Jeremy and his dad, Roy Lormis, shared many outdoor adventures together, and Roy and his wife, Kathy, moved to Liberty County, Georgia, in 2020 to be closer to their kids.
Jeremy's mother, Shannon Shelton, and his sisters, Angie Shamburger and Lauri Roberson, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephew live in Washington. Jeremy's mother-in-law, Rosalind Marner, lives in Missouri, along with many of his aunts, uncles and cousins. Jeremy also has several aunts, uncles and cousins in Wisconsin.
Jeremy's greatest pride and joy was his children. His son, Matthew; his wife, Summer; as well as Jeremy's daughter, Bethany; and her husband, Juan, all live on Colonel's Island. Jeremy's son, Weston, and his wife, Jordan, live in Hinesville.
Jeremy was incredibly happy and grateful that all of his kids lived close by and loved to spend time with him.
Jeremy also acquired a German son in 2011, Patrick Rudiger.
Jeremy was a proud "Pops" to his grandsons, including Mathew's children, Maverick and Judd; and Bethany's expected son, Lucas, who he didn't get to meet but already loved deeply.
Jeremy lived his life fully, and he leaves behind a legacy of faith, hope and love that will not soon be forgotten.
A celebration in honor of Jeremy's life will be held outdoors in Sunbury, GA, on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at 4 p.m. Coastal fishing attire, camp chairs and bug spray are encouraged.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you please consider donating blood to the American Red Cross or other like organizations to help save lives.
Address: 72 Bonnie Reed Passage, Midway, GA 31320.
The family hopes to live-stream the service. Please check Facebook for announcements on the day of the service.
Thomas L. Carter Funeral Home & Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Jeremy was a remarkable man in so many regards. To me, he was a friend, a mentor, and an example. He strengthened by belief in living a virtuous and generous life by leading deliberately and intensely. As to the impact he made on my life, I can only hope to pay it forward.
Thank you, Jeremy.

Jeremy was an amazing man. He had so many interests and talents. When I met him as a teen he played guitar beautifully. He was always hard working and gentle and had with a great smile. He will be missed by so many.
